UA Presents, located on The University of Arizona campus in Tucson, Arizona joins the growing group of Performing Arts Centers on and off University campuses, Symphony Orchestras, Ballets, Operas and Theatre Companies selecting Tessitura Software from Impresario, L.L.C. for box office operations, fundraising, reporting, marketing and customer relations management. Tessitura is a proven enterprise-wide software management system selected by numerous leading North American arts organizations including The Metropolitan Opera, Boston Symphony Orchestra, The Kennedy Center, Lyric Opera of Chicago, City Center, San Francisco Symphony, Seattle Opera, Houston Ballet and the Santa Fe Opera.
In addition to presenting a dynamic range of programming that includes a diverse collection of magnificent artists and blockbuster performances from around the world, the University affiliated Arts Center significantly supports the community. UApresents' renowned Community Engagement and Education Program offers master classes, artistic exchanges and workshops that complement the performances of the 2002-03 season. Also included are free Arts Encounter pre-performance talks, Face to Face post-performance talks with the artists, and the Cultures in Context and Unlocking the Creative Process series that explore the cultural traditions and motivation behind UApresents artists. The School Matinee Program offers six, low-cost performances to school-aged children throughout southern Arizona, and includes support materials for both teachers and students.
Jack Rubin, business and marketing director for Tessitura and President of the Tessitura Network, commented, "The powerful business tools provide by Tessitura empower arts organizations of all sizes and types to operate more efficiently and effectively. Customer service is considerably enhanced, customer retention is improved and fund raising and marketing campaigns are able to be highly targeted. Our included Internet interface also eliminates the need for the organizations to be 'held hostage' by the high transaction charges that they and their patrons must pay to competitors."
Tessitura, originally developed by The Metropolitan Opera for its own use, was implemented in 1998 and replaced multiple separate systems that handled ticketing functions, fund raising, marketing, customer care and performance reporting. The system was made available by the Met to outside clients in 2001 and the growth has been dramatic with over 20 users / licensees brought on board in less than a year. Smeeta Sharon, who is responsible for Business Operations at the Met, noted that "Tessitura enabled the Met to enhance their constituent management and improve service to our patrons. We are very pleased to be able to be able to assist other arts organizations with this powerful functionality and UA Presents is a great addition to the growing Tessitura Network of licensees."
About Tessitura
Tessitura is an enterprise software application that enables an integrated approach to "constituent management" for arts organizations. Using a single database of information, the system empowers the user organization to record, track and manage all contacts with its constituents, conduct highly targeted and cost-efficient marketing and fund raising appeals, handle all ticketing and membership transactions and provide detailed and flexible performance reports. Besides seamlessly providing efficient business, ticketing and development department operations, a key benefit of the system is its ability for relationship managers to have a full view of each constituent - their history, preferences and all contacts with the institution. Tessitura is owned by Impresario, L.L.C., a wholly owned subsidiary of The Metropolitan Opera.
