Tessitura Software has been leading the arts enterprise software industry since licensing to
arts organizations was initiated in 2001. Over 200 Theatres, Performing Arts Centers, Museums, Symphony Orchestras,
Ballet Companies, Operas, Festivals and Arts Consortiums deploy Tessitura Software. Initially developed by the
Metropolitan Opera for its own use in 1998, Tessitura Software now powers small, medium and large arts organizations
in five countries with ticketing, fundraising, marketing, CRM and advanced reporting capability. Each license holder
also utilizes Tessitura-provided technology for comprehensive real time internet transaction capability for ticket selling,
donations, memberships, select-your-own-seats online, email deployment and much more. Recent new license holders
worldwide include the Tech Museum of Innovation, Miami City Ballet, Birmingham Hippodrome (UK), and SF JAZZ.
They join leading arts organizations worldwide such as the Sydney Opera House, Shaw Festival (Canada), First Stage
Children’s Theatre, Melbourne Theatre Company (Australia), Washington Performing Arts Society, Bridgewater Hall
(UK), Houston Ballet, The Old Globe, San Diego Opera and the San Diego Symphony.
Tessitura’s leadership position was recently highlighted in the Spring 2007, International Journal of Arts Management.
An article by Professor Phillippe Ravanas of the Arts, Entertainment and Media Management Department of Columbia
College Chicago, indicated that a Graduate Class conducted “a comprehensive survey of every software system
commercially available, with a view to selecting a box office system for their university’s presenting activities. After
thoroughly evaluating all of the products under consideration, the students concluded that, six years after its launch,
Tessitura was still by far the best system of its kind.….."
Jack Rubin, President of the Tessitura Network, Inc., the nonprofit company formed by users of the software to support
and develop Tessitura software commented, “We are thrilled that more than 200 leading nonprofit arts organizations in
five countries have recognized the advantages of Tessitura, which provides a seamless, comprehensive, single database
solution for the arts. They have recognized that any other solution which includes multiple databases with partial
integration will, by definition, be less seamless, involve more complexity to move data around, frequently require more
maintenance and learning, and often be more costly to support and upgrade. An interface, versus a truly single database
solution like Tessitura, is by definition a never-ending project which involves risks of technology, sub-optimal partial
data linkage and company changes if there are multiple providers of various products. We are privileged to serve these
leading nonprofit arts organizations worldwide and look forward to continued growth in 2007 and beyond.”
About Tessitura Software® and the Tessitura Network, Inc.
Tessitura Software® is an enterprise software application that enables an integrated approach to “constituent
management” for arts organizations. Using a single database of information, the system empowers the user organization
to record, track and manage all contacts with its constituents, conduct highly targeted and cost-efficient marketing,
membership and fund raising appeals, handle all ticketing, subscription and membership transactions and provide
detailed and flexible performance and analysis reports. Besides seamlessly providing efficient business functionality and
ticketing, marketing and development department operations, a key benefit of the system is its ability for relationship
managers to have a full view of each constituent – their history, preferences and all contacts with the organization.
Tessitura Software® is owned by Impresario, L.L.C., a wholly owned subsidiary of The Metropolitan Opera.
The Tessitura Network, Inc. is a nonprofit company established to further enhance Tessitura Software® over time and to
provide ongoing support and consulting services for Tessitura licensees. Licensees become “members” of the Tessitura
Network once they start using Tessitura to process transactions for their organization. A worldwide Tessitura Network,
Inc. team provides these services.
