Philbrook Museum of Art in Tulsa, Oklahoma, is meeting the challenge of their COVID-19 closure

by leaning into their mission to connect people to art and nature  in new ways. With a #PhilTheGaps initiative, they invite their community to join them through daily online content from Instagram takeovers to DJ sets, podcasts to gardening cams. They are also giving back to their community through donations to COVID-19 relief funds, victory gardens and platforms for supporting local artists.

“We need more joy. We need more happiness. We need more cats. And we need places that will give us hope.”

Philbrook Museum of Art

Scott Stulen is the CEO and President of Philbrook Museum of Art in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Stulen is the former Curator of Audience Experiences and Performance at the Indianapolis Museum of Art, Project Director of mnartists.org at the Walker Art Center, Associate Curator at the Rochester Art Center, visual artist, writer and DJ. He earned an MFA in Painting and Drawing from the University of Minnesota and a BFA in Sculpture from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.

He created and led the first Audience Experience and Performance Curatorial Department in the country at the IMA, developing the ARTx program, commissioning new performances and site-specific installations, and launching new earned-income initiatives. At the Walker, Stulen co-curated and developed the Open Field project, reframing the museum as public park, town square and platform for experimentation.

His projects have included Roman Signer, Inigo-Manglano Ovalle, Chris Larson, Machine Project, ROLU, Chris Kallmyer, Daniel Wohl, Paula McCartney and Know No Stranger. And, yes, he is responsible for the Internet Cat Video Festival, which has toured to over 200 cities and 13 countries to date. Now at Philbrook, Stulen is guiding the museum to become a recognized national model of sustainability, relevance, and community impact.

Tessitura Network

Andrew Recinos is President of the Tessitura Network.

He is responsible for oversight of Tessitura's North American operations, including Consulting, Application Support, Managed Services, Community, Conference, and Learning Resources divisions. Working closely with CEO Jack Rubin, Andrew is a key strategic leader for the company. Taking an active role in connecting with Tessitura's member organizations, Andrew visits with scores of cultural professionals around the globe each year, sharing news about the company and learning the many unique stories of our community. Andrew's presentations draw insights from the multifaceted organizations in the world of Tessitura. 

Prior to joining Tessitura, Andrew was a Managing Director at Jacobson Consulting Applications (JCA) where he oversaw their Products division.  Andrew served as a product lead for the development of T-Stats, Tessitura Dashboards and the Revenue Management Application (RMA), as well as serving as Tessitura implementation lead for more than 30 Tessitura implementations. In 2009, Andrew became the Product Manager for the Tessitura Next Generation Project and served on the Board Steering Committee for the project to re-envision Tessitura. Prior to JCA, Andrew worked in fundraising, membership and technology at a variety of non-profits, most notably Carnegie Hall in New York City, where he worked for eight years. Among his roles was Director, Friends of Carnegie Hall, where he oversaw all aspects of this 15,000 member program.

Andrew has a Master’s Degree in Arts Administration and Bachelor of Music, Composition from Indiana University. He currently serves on the Distinguished Alumni Council of the Indiana University School of Public & Environmental Affairs. He lives in Portland, Oregon with his wife and daughter.
