Innovative practice in the use of digital media has earned six organizations from our Tessitura Network community places in the finals of the 22nd Annual Webby Awards.

Carnegie Hall’s website, Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Metkids website and Facebook Show, SF MOMA’s Send Me SF MOMA campaign, and The Virtual Orchestra from The Philharmonia are among this year’s Nominees and Honorees.

Described by The New York Times as “the Internet's highest honor,” the Webby Awards were established in 1996 and are presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS), a 2000+ member judging body. They celebrate excellence in the areas of Websites, Film & Video, Advertising, Media & PR, Social, Mobile Sites & Apps, Games, and Podcasts & Digital Audio. This year’s Awards received more than 13,000 entries from nearly all U.S. states as well as 70 countries worldwide.

Carnegie Hall’s Chief Information Officer, Aaron Levine, said that being nominated in two categories has been a huge achievement for their team.

“The Webby Awards showcase the absolute best of the internet. It is a significant honor to be included among the finalists,” he said. “For the new carnegiehall.org, we aspired to create an outstanding end-user experience, accessible to all, with a compelling mobile presence. The nominations affirm our advancements in these areas.  To see several arts and cultural organizations from the Tessitura Network community among the finalists is very exciting. Frankly, this doesn’t surprise us — Tessitura users have always been audience-focused and innovative in their use of technology.”
